The booming city of Bellevue is the largest city on King County's Eastside. Thanks to the development of downtown Bellevue real estate, the city has encouraged more businesses to set up shop here, helping boost the economy of the area. In addition to Lincoln Square and a new City Hall set up in the old Qwest building, the construction of high-rise buildings and other retail, residential and office projects indicate that Bellevue real estate will continue to go strong for years to come.
~History of Bellevue
Originally founded in 1869, Bellevue wasn't incorporated as an official city until 1953. The area remained mostly rural until 1940, when the Lake Washington Floating Bridge was constructed, allowing easier access to Seattle. With the construction of Evergreen Point Floating Bridge in 1963, people working in Seattle began to realize that Bellevue real estate was a convenient place to live and commute. Thus, Bellevue became a thriving bedroom community.
With the influx of people to the city, Bellevue soon built up its business community. This strengthened the downtown area and created what is now known as the largest shopping/dining district on Seattle's Eastside. With constant construction of both residential and commercial/office structures, Bellevue real estate does not seem to be slowing down at all.
~Academia in Bellevue
Bellevue's academic needs are met primarily through the Bellevue School District, with 18 public elementary schools, eight public middle schools and nine public high schools. Additionally, Bellevue real estate houses an extensive private education network of 34 schools.
~Playtime in Bellevue
For the athletically-inclined, Bellevue real estate has so many outdoor activities to offer: the Bellevue Aquatics Center, swimming at the local beaches, golfing at Bellevue Golf Course or Crossroads Golf Course, hiking along over 50 miles of community-run trails, playing tennis at the Robinswood Tennis Center, boating, skating at Bellevue Skate Park or joining one of the sports leagues offered for both youths and adults. Bellevue's Parks and Community Services Department maintains nearly 100 parks in the community for public use. There are also many arts and culture programs and exhibitions offered up to the public. The City of Bellevue wants to promote a healthy body and mind.
